Rumbling Bald on Lake Lure
112 Mountains Blvd, Lake Lure, NC. A lake resort in the Hickory Nut Gorge, about 40 minutes from Asheville. Ceremony and reception are both on the water. Parking is steps from the ceremony site.
Dressy for you. Costumes later for the kids.
Dressy and warm, with comfortable shoes for the lakeside terrain. Typically 60s in the afternoon, dropping toward the 40s after dark, so bring a warm layer for the evening.
Grown-ups: no costumes, that’s not the vibe. But it’s a kid-heavy crew, so feel free to pack a costume for your kids. There’s a candy bar with trick or treating, and a Halloween change-of-clothes moment during the reception is highly encouraged.

The Flowering Bridge
Lake Lure’s beloved Flowering Bridge, a 1925 bridge covered in gardens, was destroyed by Hurricane Helene. Volunteers are replanting its gardens right now, and it is one of the best stories in the whole valley. Give there and every tax-deductible dollar goes to the flowers, or put your name in the gardens with a dedicated brick.

Is there a bar?
Yes, Dan, there is. Beer, wine, cocktails, and two signature drinks: the Sarah Stinger and Daddy’s Root Beer. You’ll see.

The ceremony is outdoors right by the water, so pick shoes accordingly. And the clocks fall back Sunday morning, so you get an extra hour of recovery. You may need it.
